Violin by Louis Lowendall, Berlin

Louis Lowendall 4/4 violin, early 1900's in Berlin, Germany. This instrument has a sweet tone with good low end and projection. 

Born in Germany in 1836 as Louis Lowenthal, Lowendall later changed the spelling of his name to when trading to an international audience. As a child he was a talented violinist and cellist. He opened his own business in 1855 and soon developed a reputation as a skilled dealer and connoisseur of new and antique instruments. He employed several talented makers at his firm, allowing him to produce thousands of instruments over the half a century he was in business. The firm created several models of student to professional level violins, mainly in the style of Stradivari.
